COVID-19: DRDO to produce 15,000 body suits per day

India's premier research body Defence Research and Development Organisation has said that it is producing 7,000 body protection suits per day for medical professionals in the frontline of fighting COVID-19. The production capacity will be ramped up within a week, and 15,000 body suits will be produced per day.

As per a recent report, each suit costs Rs 7,000. Doctors and paramedics will need them as protection.

In another news, the Health Ministry today said that the government has placed orders for more than 1.5 crore Personal Protective Equipments and the supply of the same has started. "PPEs have also been sent to the States. We have also placed orders for more than one crore N95 masks," the Ministry added.

The Ministry revealed that 352 rakes with 9.86 million tonnes of food grains have been transported across India by Food Corporation of India since March 24.

Earlier on Thursday, the Prime Minister held a video conference with Chief Ministers and asked the States to undertake the fight against COVID-19 as a crisis management work at the district level, with a focus on testing, isolation, and quarantine facilities.
