The World Health Organization has been accused of lying through its teeth over Covid-19. This is perceived to have been done at the behest of China. Last month, Donald Trump temporarily froze funds to WHO over its allegedly irresponsible behaviour. And, today (IST), the US President has explicitly warned it of permanent freezing of funds if it doesn't make large improvements in 30 days.
In the letter, Trump puts the blame on WHO for delaying an emergency declaration under pressure from China President Xi Jinping. He says that WHO has lauded China for being "transparent" when reports point out to censorship in China.
"The letter accuses the WHO of failing to comment on virus-related racial discrimination allegedly happening within China It says that Dr Tedros (Director of WHO) could have saved many lives if he had acted more like Dr Harlem Brundtland, the WHO chief during the Sars outbreak," BBC quotes Trump as saying.
