Today's official updates on COVID 19 is an absolute shocker as 6472 new cases the highest-ever single day spike by a long mile has been reported in Tamil Nadu. The total in the state now stands at 1,92,964. The death toll has risen to 3232 after 88 new persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours which again is the highest ever reported till date.

Chennai also recorded 1336 new cases an increase of around 100 compared to the past ten days average. Among the other districtsThiruvallur, Tuticorin and Virudhunagar have 400+ new cases, while Chengalpet and Kancheepuram have 300+ cases and Coimbatore, Madurai, Ranipet, and Tirunelveli- 200+ cases.

On the positive side, the single-day highest number of 60,375 persons tested were tested today with the total number of tests so far, reaching 21,57,869 and TN continues to conduct the highest testing in the country. 5210 patients were discharged which again is the highest so far and the tally of recoveries has risen to 1,36,793.
