The official coronavirus updates for today have shown that 4538 new cases have emerged in the past twenty-four hours in Tamil Nadu and the highest single-day spike of 79 deaths have been reported. There are now 1,60,907 patients in the state and the death toll has risen to 2315.

Chennai is maintaining new case numbers average for the past week or so with 1243 cases and is now housing 83377 patients in total. Madurai - 263 and Thiruvallur- 220 are in the second and third place after the capital city whilst Chengalpet, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Theni, Thiruvannamalai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Vellore, Villupuram & Virudhunagar- districts have each recorded 100+ cases.

On the positive side 3391 patients have been discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 1,10,807. The highest till date number of 47,539 persons were tested taking up the overall tally of tests to 17,56,998 persons which is the most in the entire country.
