The official coronavirus updates show that Chennai the worst hit city in Tamil Nadu so far improving and maintaining the recent low numbers of new cases with 1140 today. The situation in the rest of the state is alarming as the total new cases today numbers to 4328. There are now 1,42,798 patients in TN with Chennai having 78573 of them. The death toll in the state has now crossed two thousand (2032) after 66 persons lost their lives to the virus in the past twenty-four hours.

After Chennai, Madurai recorded the highest number of cases today with 464 followerd by Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur- 300+ cases. and Chengalpet- 219. Kanyakumari, Ranipet, Salem, Theni, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Vellore and Villupuram have reported 100+ cases today.

On the positive side 3035 patients have been discharged taking up the tally of recoveries to 92,567. The high number of 43,548 persons were tested today. 1,65,4008 tests have been conducted so far in TN which is the most among all the states in the country.
