COVID 19 - Tamil Nadu records highest single day spike in cases

The official coronavirus update for today is as alarming as the past week or so as Tamil Nadu records the highest single-day spike of 805 new patients shooting up the total to 17,082. Not surprisingly Chennai accounts for 549 of them and the total in the capital city has now crossed 11000 (11,131). Seven persons have lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours all of them from Chennai with five admitted to the government hospital and two in private hospitals. The death toll in the state is now 118.

On the positive side 407 people have been discharged in the past twenty four hours raising the total number of recoveries to 8,731. According to research conducted by TN Health Department, 88% of Covid19 patients in the state are asymptomatic. Out of the 12% patients showing symptoms, 40% of them had fever, 37% had cough, 10% reported throat pain,9% suffered from breathlessness and 4% had running nose.
