The official numbers coming in today for the COVID 19 situation in Tamil Nadu is far from encouraging with 1384 new cases reported today out of which 1072 are from Chennai. The total number of patients in the state and the capital are 27,256 and 18,693 respectively. The death toll has risen to 220 after 12 persons lost their lives to the virus in the past twenty-four hours.

585 patients have been discharged today and the total number of recoveries is now 14,901. The Nilgiris and Tirupur are among the few districts maintaining the zero patient levels for the past three weeks or so.

15,991 persons were tested today.in the state out of 5,20,286 tested so far. 16,447 samples were tested today out of which 588 are under process. 1506 children under the age of 12 affected so far which is also increasing day by day causing much alarm.
