COVID-19: 24 hours, 40 deaths, 1035 new cases

India has witnessed the sharpest-ever increase in corona positive cases in the past 24 hours, a Health Ministry bulletin said on Saturday morning. "40 deaths and 1035 new cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of corona cases is 7447 (including 6565 active cases, 643 cured/discharged/migrated and 239 deaths) in the country," the Ministry added.
Meanwhile, India has decided to export 23 million tablets of HCQ, the anti-malarial drug, for export to 13 countries. Scores of cargo flights have been readied already, the Ministry of External Affairs today said. For domestic use, buffer stocks are adequate for the coming month.
Later on Saturday, several State governments are likely to announce an extension of the ongoing lockdown.
