Senior actor and YSRCP politician Mohan Babu was today found guilty in a cheque bounce case by a Hyderabad court, which gave the final verdict. He has been sentenced to a jail term of 1 year. Besides, a fine of more than Rs 41 lakh has been imposed.
Mohan Babu has reacted to the development. "It was in 2009 that I worked with director YVS Chowdhary on the film 'Saleem'. I honoured all my payments for that movie. I signed him up for another movie and paid the advance through a cheque. But since 'Saleem' failed, I shelved the project. I told him not to present the cheque, but he went on to present it at the bank. I have been dragged into this case. The court has been misled. I am going to appeal in a special court," Mohan Babu said.
The actor has got a bail for 30 days. "I appeal to everyone not to take what TV channels are saying at face value," he added.
