As reported earlier, the Ernakulam District Court had issued a temporary stay on all shoot and promotion activities of Suresh Gopi's 250th film based on the copyright complaint filed by Kaduva movie scenarist Jinu Abraham.
Now, the latest that we hear is the court extended the stay. According to the latest report on TOI, "The court had four hearings between the two parties and each of them had stated their case. The court ordered on Wednesday that the stay on the shoot and promotional activities of Mathews' film will remain till the case is resolved."
Almost 3 months back Jinu had approached the court alleging that there were similarities between his film ‘Kaduva’ starring Prithviraj and ‘SG 250’ starring Suresh Gopi. According to his complaint, the films are based on the same real-life person, Kurivanakunnel Kuruvachan, and the script of Suresh Gopi's film, which is directed by Mathews Thomas Plammoottil, has been plagiarised from his script. The scenarist approached the court saying that the SG 250 team can begin the shoot once after they prove that there is no similarity with his script.
It must be noted that Mathew Thomas was a former assistant of ‘Kaduva’ writer Jinu Abraham. Meanwhile, the real life Kuruvachan had earlier clarified that both the films are being made without his permission and that he has the liberty to proceed against both the teams legally.
