Following the orders of the court, Google has removed Tik Tok app from its playstore. A public interest litigation was filed in Madurai high court, citing that Tik Tok spoils culture, and promotes vulgar, obscene content online and that the central government must impose a ban on Tik Tok. On April 3, the Madurai high court had ordered the central government to ban Tik Tok downloads.
As the case came for hearing yesterday before the bench headed by justice Kirubakaran and Sundar, the advocate representing Tik Tok said that no obscene videos will be entertained on Tik Tok and that after the court order, lakhs of videos have been deleted, and requested the court to remove the ban on downloading Tik Tok.
However, the judges rejected the plea, and ordered the central government's information technology department to submit a report on this issue. In such a situation, Google has now removed Tik Tok from its play store in India, and has disabled downloads. This has happened after central government had instructed Google and Apple to follow court orders, and Google has promptly removed Tik Tok from Indian play store.
