The Madras High Court on Thursday ordered notices to the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust’s managing trustee R Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, over a plea against constructing a multiplex and shopping mall in the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) premises.

Justice R Subbiah ordered issuing of notices, while hearing a petition filed by S Murugan and P A Kaja Mohideen, who contended that the actors had failed to constitute a board of trust, and that the truncated trust had only two members – Sarathkumar and Radha Ravi.

The plaintiffs also sought to declare as null and void the sub-letting of the property by Sarath Kumar and Ravi to a lessee/developer for a 29 year and 11 month period on furnishing a 'paltry' refundable security of Rs 1.44 crore.

‘The charitable trust was created only for the welfare of the member artists of the South Indian Artists Association and if anything was done in the interest of the trust it must done only through the trust board’, the plaintiffs contended.
