TDR Harischandra Gowda. Why should you know this name? He’s a self acclaimed soothsayer who filed a frivolous PIL at the Kartnataka High Court, which later directed him to pay up Rs.5000 towards the relief measures in Kerala.

What was the frivolous thing he did that the court got so pissed off? Harischandra had filed a PIL seeking directions to conduct investigation against the authorities who failed to stop the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. He also alleged that he had predicted the catastrophe three years back in 2005 and that it could be saved by performing a puja.

Dismissing his PIL, the Karnataka High Court also imposed on him Rs.5000 for Kerala flood relief measures. Gowda also gave an undertaking to the court that he would not file such PILs in the future. Good for him.

(PIL: public interest litigation means litigation for the protection of the public interest. It is litigation introduced in a court of law, not by the aggrieved party but by the court itself or by any other private party, source: wiki)
