In a first of its kind, a four-year-old female Malayan tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for coronavirus. The Bronx Zoo located in New York City said that the test result was confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory, Iowa.
The tiger Nadia, her sister Azul, and two Amur tigers and three African lions developed dry cough and will be recovering soon, said the zoo authorities who added that the tigers must have been infected by a zoo keeper.
Though the tigers had a decrease in appetite, they've been doing well with veterinary care and have been interactive with zoo keepers, said the zoo reports. It has been said that the other four tigers, snow leopards, cheetahs, a clouded leopard, an Amur leopard, a puma and a serval in the zoo aren't showing any symptoms.
