Tamil Nadu Minister for health Dr. Vijayabaskar has stated in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that the coronavirus is spreading fast in the state and one patient isolated in Madurai is in a critical condition although due to other ailments. The said patient is the first who has no travel history and is indicative of the spread among the community.
The Tamil Nadu government has enforced the section 144 signaling total lockdown barring essential commodities to the entire state from this evening until midnight April 1st. Social distancing and hygiene have been emphasized more than ever while the state has also announced that it is ready with hospital beds and testing facilities if the situation gets any worse. Until now twelve patients have been confirmed affected by the novel COVID 19 in TN among the 511 in the country. The minister has also confirmed that three new patients have been confirmed positive for coronavirus All 3 traveled abroad.74 year old male and 52 year old female returned from USA admitted to Stanley hospital and 25 year old female returned from Swiss at KMC. They are residents of Porur, Purasaivakkam and Keelkattalai respectively. Patients are in isolation & stable.
