Following the unfortunate and alarming trend of the past three days Tamil Nadu has once again witnessed yet another huge spike in coronavirus cases with 580 new patients testing positive in the last twenty-four hours. The numbers for Chennai at 316 is once again more than half of the entire state.

The total tally for the state now is 5409 cases out which 1547 have been discharged (31 today) and the death toll has risen to 37 after two people lost their lives today. TN has crossed 2 lakh testings (2,02,436) till now out of which 14,195 samples tested today. 1,92, 574 persons tested have been tested so far. Of the 5409 cases, 3730 are male, 1677 female and 2 transgenders. The worrying factor again is that 273 children under the age of 12 have been affected.

Details of the 2 new COVID 19 deaths reported in TN today are a 56-yr-old female with comorbidities from Thiruvalluvar who passed away at Kilpauk MCH yesterday. night and a 48-yr-old female with comorbidities from Chennai who passed away today at RGGH.
