The official updates on coronavirus today has Tamil Nadu recording its highest single-day peak of 4979 new cases taking up the total count to 1,70,693 cases. The death toll has now risen to 2481 after 78 new deaths reported in the past twenty four hours.

Chennai has maintained its flat figure average of the past ten days with 1254 new cases reported.with the total standing at 85859. Among the districts Thiruvallur and Chengalput have reported the high numbers of 405 and 306 respectively while Kancheepuram, Madurai, and Virudhunagar are among those that have recorded 200 plus cases.

On the positive side, 51,640 persons were tested today which the highest so far and also the big number of 4059 patients have been discharged taking up the number of recoveries to 1,17,915.
