The coronavirus pandemic that has forced down one-third of the world to lockdown has affected several industries and one of the worst-hit is the film industry which has a large number of daily wage earners whose livelihood has been threatened. The Tamil Nadu government during phase 3 of the lockdown has enforced liberal relaxation by allowing standalone businesses, IT and ITES, and other industries to function.
The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) head R.K. Selvamani has made a plea to the government to allow a partial resumption of work in the film industry. He has sought resumption of post-production activities such as dubbing, recording, and others where social distancing can be followed. It remains to be seen if the higher-ups will give the green signal or not.
