The Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary K. Shanmugham has updated that 77 persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the last twenty-four hours in the state.  The total number of patients now is 911 with no deaths reported.  The positive news is that there is no community spread so far and all the patients have been through contacts of the single source event and through other patients.  44 persons have completely recovered from the disease as well.

The government have also tested 71 patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) but none of them were COVID 19 positive and are being treated separately.  Samples of five others are in the process.  The medical expert's committee of 19 persons constituted by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has recommended a further 15-day lockdown which would extend till the month-end.  The CM is expected to make an announcement regarding this after a cabinet meeting tomorrow.
