Coronavirus: Singer Kanika booked under IPC sections

Ever since she was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19, Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has been in the news everywhere. It's because she hadn't quarantined herself after returning to India from London, allegedly hid her travel history and attended a party earlier this month in which a Member of Parliament and a former Chief Minister of Rajasthan were present.

The news is that the singer has come to be booked for negligence under relevant sections of the IPC. An FIR has been registered against Kanika Kapoor at Sarojini Nagar police station under IPC Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Based on a complaint given by the Lucknow chief medical officer, the FIR was filed. Besides this, two more FIRs are planned to be filed against Kanika Kapoor at Hazratganj and Gomtinagar police stations for visiting places in their jurisdiction.
