In a shocking news and a setback for the party, Vasantham K Karthikeyan, the DMK MLA from Rishivandhiyam has tested positive for Coronavirus yesterday. He is the second DMK legislator and third legislator in Tamil Nadu to be affected by the Coronavirus.

As per reports, the 43-year-old Karthikeyan and six members of his family were under quarantine from June 13 after his wife and daughter tested positive for Coronavirus. Yesterday Karthikeyan and his mother tested positive and following this, the MLA, his mother, wife and daughter were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

DMK president M K Stalin posted a tweet about Karthikeyan's work for the society during the lockdown and his helping nature. Stalin had mentioned that Karthikeyan who's being treated for Covid-19 spoke to him confidently when he contacted him and expressed confidence that he'll recover soon. Previously, J Anbazhagan, the DMK MLA from Chepauk-Triplicane, contracted the virus and died on June 10. On June 13, the AIADMK Sriperumbudur MLA K Palani had tested positive for coronavirus.
