The official coronavirus update for the day points to another huge increase in Chennai which has 94 new patients while the rest of Tamil Nadu has only 10 new persons testing positive. The total number of patients in TN has risen to 2162 while Chennai has reached a scary number of 768. Coimbatore and Tirupur are the distant second and third in the state with stable numbers of 141 and 112 while the rest of the districts are below the hundred mark.

82 patients have been discharged today taking the total number of recoveries to 1210 while two more persons have lost their lives to the disease taking the death toll number to 27 so far. Tamil Nadu testing stats as on April 29th: 8,087 samples tested today. 1,09, 961 samples tested so far. 1,01, 075 persons have been tested to date. Of the 2162 cases, 1455 are male and 707 are female patients. 129 children under the age of 12 have also been affected.
