COVID 19: Union minister V Muraleedharan isolates himself

As a preventive measure against the spread of the novel coronavirus and COVID 19, Union Minister V Muraleedharan opts for self-quarantine after he attended a meeting in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute hospital in Trivandrum on March 14. According to reports, the minister had decided to go on a 14-day in-home quarantine at his Delhi residence. Though the minister has not shown any symptoms of COVID-19, tests were done immediately and his report returned negative on March 16.

The Minister decided to isolate himself after a doctor there at the hospital tested positive for COVID 19 on March 15. Several other doctors who had come in contact with the infected doctor in the meet were kept under observation. According to reports senior doctors of at least six core departments at the hospital have been asked to isolate themselves in their homes.

The infected doctor had returned from a trip from Spain and worked in the hospital for 10 days before being tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, Kerala has reported 27 cases of COVID-19 while three patients have recovered fully.
