Coronavirus pandemic is not even close to getting over, it's actually speeding up: WHO

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned that the worst of coronavirus, which has already affected millions of people across the globe, is yet to come and that it is far from over, as the pandemic is actually speeding up in several parts of the world.
Claiming that the lack of national unity and lack of global solidarity was actually helping the virus spread, the WHO chief said, Some countries are now experiencing a resurgence of cases as they start to re-open their economies and societies. Most people remain susceptible. The virus still has a lot of room to move. But the hard reality is: This is not even close to being over. Although many countries have made some progress, globally the pandemic is actually speeding up. Further adding that WHO is preparing to send a team to China next week to investigate the origins of the virus, Tedros mentioned, We can fight the virus better when we know everything about the virus, including how it started. The solution to the virus continues to be the same: Test, trace, isolate and quarantine. If any country is saying contact tracing is difficult, it is a lame excuse. The lame excuse is there are 'too many'. Trust me there are not too many in war situations. If contact tracing helps you to win the fight, you do it even risking your life.
The WHO chief had earlier mentioned in a video conference that the world must act together on a national and global scale to overcome the pandemic. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of more than 514,691 people and infected over 10,620,237 people across the world. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency and the outbreak was labelled a pandemic.
