The official coronavirus updates have shown that Tamil Nadu and the capital city Chennai have remained flat for the past few days in new number of cases. 5875 is the number tested positive in the state today with the total now standing at 2,57,613. The death toll has risen to 4132 after 98 new deaths reported in the past twenty-four hours.

The Chennai numbers of 1065 are all too familiar for the past ten days or so while the data of the rest of the districts are Chengalpet- 446, Kancheepuram, Theni, Thiruvallur and Virudhunagar- 300+ cases. and Kanyakumari, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli have recorded 200+ cases.

On the positive side 5517 patients have been discharged today taking up the total number of recoveries to 1,96,483. Similarly the 58,505 persons were tested today and the total so far stands at 27,79,062 which continues to be the highest in the country ever since the pandemic started.
