Famous cinematographer passes away fighting Corona!

Renowned cinematographer Allen Daviau, a multiple Oscar nominee and winner of the prestigious BAFTA awards passed away on Wednesday after fighting a battle with the deadly Coronavirus.

The 77 year old famous cinematographer had teamed up with Steven Spielberg in multiple projects including the Oscar-winning director's first short film, Amblin. Daviau was also the cinematographer of Spielberg's E.T, The Color Purple, and Empire of the Sun.

Allen Daviau was nominated for Oscar for these films directed by Spielberg besides receiving two more nominations for Avalon and Bugsy. Spielberg who got the news of Daviau falling ill had sent a letter to him which read “In 1968, Allen and I started our careers side by side with the short film Amblin. Allen was a wonderful artist but his warmth and humanity were as powerful as his lens. He was a singular talent and a beautiful human being.”
