While there were growing talks that the nationwide lockdown will be extended for another two weeks, reports from various sources have confirmed that the lockdown will be extended further for two weeks and that an official announcement can be expected today evening.
Confirming the extension, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has tweeted "PM has taken correct decision to extend lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than many developed countries because we started lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is imp to extend it."
Earlier, due to Coronavirus pandemic, Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi had announced a nationwide lockdown on March 24 for 21 days and now with the increasing cases and deaths in the country, after announcement by state governments like Odisha and Punjab, PM Modi is set to announce a nationwide extension of lockdown.
