Thala Ajith began his next movie Valimai directed by his Ner Konda Paarvai director H Vinoth in 2019 December. However, following the Coronavirus pandemic, the shooting of the movie was put on hold after the lockdown.

Recently, the Government had permitted shooting of films, and team Valimai shooting scenes which won't feature the lead Ajith. The latest update from the team is that the they were refused permission to shoot in Delhi.

Valimai which is based on racing, was initially planned to have some scenes shot in other countries. After the pandemic situation, the team decided to shift to places in India and Boney Kapoor had planned to shoot in a location in Delhi. Unfortunately, the Government has denied permission to shoot at that place, and the team is looking for alternatives.Valimai also stars Huma Qureshi, Karthikeya, and has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
