The Nedumbassery Police has registered a case against the sensational Rajith Kumar, who was recently evicted from the reality show Bigg Boss season 2, for violating the Covid-19 advisory. The case has been booked against 78 other people as well, for gathering at Cochin international airport to receive Rajith Kumar who returned from the channel show. The case has been registered under sections 143, 147, 149, 188 and 283 of IPC.
The Ernakulam District Collector S Suhas took to his social media handle to share his disappointment towards the disgraceful act. “When the entire world is keeping tight vigil against the global pandemic Covid-19, the performance by a TV channel reality show participant and his fans at Cochin international airport premises is disgraceful for Keralites. Law enforcers can’t turn blind eye to such incidents when all social, political, cultural and religious organisations and institutions are abandoning mass gatherings for the safety of people,” said collector S Suhas, in his Facebook post.
Meanwhile, tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran took to his Facebook handle to warn that stringent action will be taken if any more such fan shows are conducted anywhere in the state.
There are several videos on social media of the rousing reception for Rajith at the Kochi airport, where heavy restrictions were imposed in the wake of corona fear. Hundreds of fans including women and children came down to the airport on Sunday midnight to welcome their favourite contestant.
Rajith Kumar is a controversial public speaker, who was a popular contestant in the popular reality show Bigg Boss season 2. Rajith was recently expelled from the reality show for physically attacking a female co-contestant by applying chili on her eyes.
