Kani aka Karthiga Thiru the eldest daughter of director Ahathian and wife of director Thiru came into her own after participating and winning the title of the highly popular 'Cook Wtih Comali' season two. She is also a famous YouTuber and orator who brings classic Tamil epics to life through her narration.

Kani is now making her debut as actress in the new movie 'Valli Mayil' strarring Vijay Antony and Faria Abdulla in the lead roles. Srimayi the daughter of the late actress Kalpana and niece of actress Urvashi is also making her debut in this film in a lead role as well.

Kani's siblings Vijayalakshmi Feroze and Niranjanai Desing are also actresses and with her debut in 'Valli Mayil' all the three daughters of Ahathiyan have taken to acting in films.
