Mega hero Varun Tej’s ‘Valmiki’ is in the news because a few members of the Valmiki community have reportedly been offended by the title. It’s not clear if the makers of the film are going to get a legal notice regarding the title but early signs of an impending controversy are there.
What does director Harish Shankar think about the title? “Ramudu, whom Valmiki had worshipped, waged a war for dharma. Anyways, we will respect and consider the concerns of the Valmiki community. And before getting into anything I would like to clearly state that Hero’s name is NOT “Valmiki “ in the film. So our hero isn’t named after the great VALMIKI,” the ‘Gabbar Singh’ and ‘DJ’ director says.
Starring also Pooja Hegde and Atharvaa, the comedy will release on September 6.
