A couple by the name of Rakesh and Dakshina has tied the knot on-board a chartered SpiceJet flight in Tamil Nadu's Madurai. There were 161 people in total on the flight. The chartered aircraft was hovering over the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai at the time of the wedding.
As per an ANI report, the Airport Authority officials were unaware of the mid-air marriage ceremony. Had they been aware of it, they might not have permitted it.
Going by the visuals, the wedding was held in violation of Covid-19 rules. Dr. Suchitra wrote, "None with masks! Breaching not just Corona guidelines, but air safety rules too! Despite the novelty, and joy of the occasion... is this permissible?" A Netizen said that the immediate casualty is logic, reason and common sense.
"This way people are playing with loopholes in rules and regulations. If you can't gather people on the ground, then book a chartered flight and do it on board," another Netizen wrote.
There are restrictions on the number of people who can attend a wedding during the pandemic. As per reports, the flight carried 161 people at the time of the wedding.
The police have asked SpiceJet to give an explanation.
