Controversial naturopath Mohanan Vaidyar dies of COVID-19

Controversial naturopath Mohanan Nair, popularly known as Mohanan Vaidyar, passed away on Saturday due to COVID-19. He was 65. Reportedly, Mohanan Vaidyar had been suffering from fever and breathing trouble since Saturday morning. On Saturday night, he collapsed and died at a relative's house in Thiruvananthapuram. Last rites will be performed there adhering to Covid protocol.

Mohanan Vaidyar, a self-proclaimed naturopath, had run into several controversies over his treatment and his stance against modern medicine. Following his unscientific treatment, Mohanan was responsible for the death of a one-year-old child suffering from Propionic acidemia. Recently, he was in the news after the police had taken him into custody for offering fake treatment for Covid-19. Following this, the health department had banned him from continuing practice.
