Constable Veerababu booked for harassing a woman

Veerababu (32) of the Telangana State Special Police is in the dock for reportedly harassing a woman over the phone. The accused was on Sunday arrested by the Banjara Hills police.
Reacting to the woman's complaint and the subsequent arrest of Veerababbu, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said that no one is above the law. "Such criminals in uniform make us bow our heads in shame," he wrote on Twitter, adding that wrongdoing by cops can be complained against via the WhatsApp number 9490616555.
As per media reports, Veerababu had come to know of the woman when he gave her a lift on a road a few days ago. They exchanged numbers. Afterward, he started sending her inappropriate pics. Besides, he started calling her on video despite the woman's fulminations.
The constable has now been booked under a relevant section of the IPC dealing with the use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
