Some unverified media reports are saying that the Congress party is most likely to promise the introduction of 52% quota for Other Backward Castes if it comes to power at the Centre.

Earlier in January, Narendra Modi announced 10% quota for the Economically Backward Classes among forward castes, Muslims, Christians, etc. During a debate in Parliament, a parliamentarian from Samajwadi Party demanded that the quota for OBCs should be increased from 27% to 52%.

This demand stands on the premise that the OBC population constitutes more than 50% in the country. but a fresh survey needs to be undertaken to assess their population at present.

Rahul Gandhi may promise whatever he wants, but when it comes to legislation, the Supreme Court may well strike down the amendment to Constitution if it's made at all.

This is election season and several interesting things are going to happen.
