In the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress party's promise to ban RSS shakas in government premises and offices has come as a blessing for the BJP. How, you ask?
As per ground reports, the ban promise has angered many BJP and RSS cadres, who are now more enthusiastic in campaigning for the victory of the saffron party this election season. As of now, government employees can participate in RSS shakas. But if Congress comes to power, this rule will be revoked.
While Congress has described RSS as a political organization, a large chunk of voters in MP see it as a socio-cultural organization. This mismatch is something Rahul Gandhi's party has not taken into account.
"The promise to ban RSS shakas won't give BJP more votes. But it has already prompted the cadres to work more vigorously for BJP," opines an analyst.
Sections of saffron leaders are projecting the ban promise as a draconian measure that is reminiscent of the Emergency days. Although the Congress manifesto says that RSS will be banned only among government employees and in sarkari offices, some BJP-RSS members are projecting it as a blanket ban of RSS in the state!
