Jothimani, a Congress MP from Tamil Nadu, has courted controversy by saying that nobody in her State knows of Lord Ram. "I am from Tamil Nadu, I don’t know Ram. You ask anybody in Tamil Nadu. We don’t see any Ram Temple," she told Times Now.

A video clip from the interview has surfaced on the Internet and is going viral. The MP has been accused of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

A social media user named Nandagopal KM reminded the MP of the temples dedicated to Ram in TN. "Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple at Sri Rangam near Trichy, Aadhi Sri Rangam Temple near Thiruvannamalai, Sri Ranganathar Temple at Pallikonda, Eari Katha Ramar Temple at Maduranthagam, Ramanatha Swamy temple at Rameshwaram & 1000s of Ram temples in villages," he tweeted.

Another user sees politics. "Jyotimani says that for a reason. To be in the good books of DMK. In her constituency Karur, Congress will lose the deposit if it contests independently. They need the DMK to sail through. There is a chance that DMK will contest Karaikudi and cut seats of Congress," he wrote.
