Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has tested positive for Covid-19. The 48-year-old son of P Chidambaram on Monday revealed that his test result came back positive and that he has been suffering only from mild symptoms.
The politician has quarantined himself at home. Reports suggest that he will not be admitted to a hospital. Breaking the news, Karti urged everyone to follow the Covid-19 protocol and get themselves tested if they had come in contact with him.
Chidambaram's is the latest case of a well-known political leader contracting the virus in the last 24 hours. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Uttar Pradesh Minister Mahendra Singh, and Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, too, have tested positive in the last one day. Reports say that almost nine MLAs from Madhya Pradesh have tested positive.
