Congress leader arrested for saying Modi must be killed

A Congress leader named Raja Pateria has been arrested on the charge that he tried to incite a mob to eliminate Narendra Modi. “We must murder Modi to save the Constitution. Send Modi’s Bahu-Beti and our leader will decide whether to marry, the leader from Madhya Pradesh has been quoted as saying.

The MP government today said that Raja Pateria was arrested. IPC Sections 115 and 117, besides Sections 451, 504, 505, 506, 153b have been slapped against him. They are non-bailable sections.

The Congressman's comments have shocked many. Wrote Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, Congress leader Raja Pateria’s call to kill PM Modi is palpably a case of incitement to murder. His defence is pathetic. The Congress party’s refusal to condemn him only reflects its covert sympathy for that design.

BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya wrote, Not the first time, Congress leaders have issued death threats to Prime Minister Modi… No less than Mr Kharge, now Congress President, threatened bloodbath on the floor of the House.
