Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that the ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh appears to have already conceded defeat as none of the senior leaders of the party seem to be keen in campaigning in the State which is to vote to elect a new Assembly in November.
“Now that the party bosses don’t seem to be interested in campaigning here (Himachal Pradesh), I feel chief-minister Virbhadra Singh would have to make up his own plans to save his seat,” Modi ridiculed while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Kangra, the largest District in the State.
“Congress has been mired in corruption whether it rules in States or at the Centre; it is like a termite which should be wiped off immediately,” Modi said to thunderous applause from the crowd. The BJP is making an earnest effort to wrest the power from the Congress in the State which is to vote on 09th November to elect a new Assembly.
“The BJP’s fight against corruption would continue unabated; we might have angered Congress by our last November’s demonetization announcement which has forced it to observe the day as a ‘black day’ instead of celebrating it,” he said. During the course of his speech, Modi hinted that the Centre might soon launch a crackdown on benami properties. “I know Congress won’t like it but we would go ahead with it,” he said.
“A situation would be created wherein the Congress leaders might not be able to reclaim the seized/attached benami assets,” Modi said.
