The Congress Party has accused the ruling BJP at the Centre and the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu of indulging in 'Parliament-fixing', akin to match-fixing in cricket.
AIADMK's Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs have been stalling proceedings in Parliament for more than the past two weeks demanding setting up of a Cauvery Management Board at once in line with Supreme Court's directions in this regard issued on 16th February.
Opposition parties - namely the Congress - are planning to move a 'no confidence motion' against the Narendra Modi-led BJP Govt. at the Centre but are unable to do so as the AIADMK has effectively stalled the proceedings of Parliament for more than two weeks. Congress and AIADMK MPs have also been involved in verbal duel on the floor of Parliament.
Speaking in Parliament, Congress' floor leader Malikarjuna Kharge alleged that the BJP and the AIADMK had been involved in 'Parliament-fixing' akin to match-fixing. "AIADMK appears to be stalling Parliament at the behest of the BJP which is scared of facing the no-confidence motion," he said. AIADMK's Arumozhithevan denied the allegation and said the AIADMK didn't have any reason to toe the BJP's line.
