On Monday, the Kerala Police arrested a bus conductor and driver for sexually abusing a minor girl student inside a private bus in Kottayam district. Conductor Afzal, 31, and driver Ebin, 35, were arrested on the charge of sexually abusing the girl, who is a Class-8 student, inside a bus. Reportedly, Ebin helped Afsal for committing the crime while his another friend is absconding.

The Class 8 girl was a daily commuter in the bus in which the two accused were employed. The conductor, who is already a married person, sexually abused the girl in the pretext of love. As per the complaint, the girl reached the bus stand as per Afsal's request.Claiming to have fever Afzal took leave on the day and summoned his friend who is also a conductor. Afzal and the driver then skipped the 1.30 pm trip saying there were no passengers. After taking the girl on board the bus, the other conductor and driver pulled down the shutters of the bus and left.

Based on secret information received by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaju Jose, a police team rushed to the spot and inspected the bus and found the conductor and the girl inside the vehicle. The bus has been seized by the police. After recording her statement, the girl student was subjected to medical examination and was sent for counseling.
