As per news reports, the authorities of a few unnamed schools in Bengaluru were shocked by what they found when they checked their high-school students. Children going to Class IX and X were found storing condoms, contraceptive pills and cigarettes in bags.
The issue has shocked one and all. Netizens are debating the incident. A section of them are saying that the children have taken to vices and are audacious enough to have pre-marital sex. Others are of the view that using condoms and contraceptive pills shows their awareness of the pitfalls of teen pregnancy.
A Twitter user quoted a doctor as saying that the permissive culture is attributable to absentee parents who are showering money on their children. Also, parents have put up bars at home. "The amount accessible to children is unfathomable. Parents are openly drinking in front of children and justify it by saying that they are tired or stressed," she tweeted.
"No family and friends' get-together is complete without booze. They even get non-alcoholic drinks for kids and include them in booze sessions. What is the kid learning?" she asked.
"Bar at home, displaying beer bottles of foreign brands and of various kinds, displaying glasses of various types and shapes, and displaying cigars on shelves are all a status symbol these days," lamented another Netizen.
A good section of Netizens is convinced that it's the parents who are to be blamed.
