A CPI(ML) leader named Potu Rangarao today lost his thumb during a protest in Hyderabad. He and his fellow comrades were protesting in support of the striking TSRTC unions.
As the protest continued unabated, the police decided to detain Rangarao. As the leader was being pushed into a police van, his finger got stuck between the vehicle's two backdoors. A constable shut the doors, not knowing that the detainee's finger was stuck. Due to the sheer force of the closing, half of the finger got amputated.
However, the victim has alleged that it was a deliberate attempt to brutally hurt him.
The incident has come as a shock.
