With the Andhra Pradesh government going all out in reducing the cinema ticket prices to unbelievably low levels, the Telugu film industry is moving heaven and earth to sort out issues before the release of 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram on January 7 next year. The Telugu film industry's who's who have formed a committee that will speak on behalf of the entire industry before the government. The concerns of distributors, exhibitors and producers will be represented by this committee, whose members are believed to have been chosen because of their excellent negotiation skills as well as their importance.
In this regard, industry elders and producers such as Dil Raju and UV Creations' Vamshi are optimistic that something constructive is going to happen. The buzz is that the Jaganmohan Reddy government will be revising the ticket rates in a few days. This will put a lid on the spate of theatre shutdowns in AP.
Dil Raju, addressing the media on Monday, urged his colleagues in the industry not to make individual statements about the government's policy in the meanwhile.
The government, on its part, has appointed a committee chaired by the Principal Secretary of the Home Ministry to study the issue. Representatives from the government will speak with the industry representatives.
