The arrest of a popular comedy actress and her husband has shocked the film industry which is already reeling under the losses incurred due to the coronavirus pandemic and other issues. For the past few weeks the film fraternity is at the receiving end of drug scandals both in Bollywood and South India.

In Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty the former girlfriend of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was arrested on charges of drug abuse and procurement and was later released on bail. In Sandalwood actresses, Priyanka Dwivedi and Sanjjannaa Galrani have been nabbed by the cops and are spending time in jail for over a month now.

Popular Hindi comedy actress Bharti Sngh along with her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa were arrested by the Mumbai police on Sunday on drug charges after grilling them for close to twelve hours. When the celebrity couple's house was raided 86.5 grams of ganja aka cannabis was found and the couple has also said to have confessed to using them.

A Mumbai court has granted 14 days judicial custody of the couple and their offense attracts six months jail and ten thousand rupees fine. The quantity seized is small as anything under 1000 grams is considered that while quantities above 20 Kgs is termed as commercial use and attracts up to twenty years prison term.
