Veteran comedy actor Pandu has passed away at a private hospital in Chennai were he was treated in intensive care after testing positive for COVID 19 a few days back. His wife Kumutha is also in the ICU for the same infection. He was 74 and is survived by his three sons Prabhu, Panchu and Pintu
Pandu the younger brother of the late comedy actor Idichapulli Selvaraj made his full fledged acting debut in 1981 in the film 'Karaiyellam Shenbaga Poo' but his big break came in the nineties. Audiences loved his facial contortions in comedy scenes in many memorable films such as 'Chinna Thambi', 'Kadhal Kottai', 'Muthu', 'Thirumathi Pazhaniswamy', 'Nadigan', 'Udan Pirappu', 'Yezhaiyin Sirippil' and many more.
Apart from acting Pandu was a very talented artist and designer who owned a company Capital Letters that has designed logos for several high profile companies including designing the AIADMK flag for the late chief minister MGR. Tributes are pouring in from the Kollywood fraternity.
The second wave of COVID 19 pandemic is not only spreading alarmingly in India but also claiming lives in large numbers. Staying indoors, wearing masks, practising social distancing and hygiene and vaccination are said to be the only ways to curb it according to experts.
