When 'Race' and 'Jodha Akbar' were pulling in massive crowds and rose to the status of super hits, a film was gradually climbing up the stairs although not giving any tough competition for the first two hits for Bollywood in 2008.

The film has unhurriedly but surely made its presence felt among the big shot films without the hype and hoopla and great promotion. The film'Black & White' sans any glamour and style made it to the hit list by completing 50 days only on the strength of its sincere and clean portrayal of its content.

Subhash Ghai has proved once again why he is indeed called one of the best in Bollywood. The senior film maker also needs to be appreciated for showing the guts to cast a completely new comer Anurag Sinha as the hero Numair Qazi in the film. Subhash Ghai regular and versatile actor Anil Kapoor gave an outstanding performance as Rajan Mathur in his usual composed and calm manner in the role of an Urdu professor once again proved why at this age too, he is in much demand in the B-town.

The film which was released world wide on March 7 by Muktha Searchlight banner tells the story of the journey of a young terrorist's last mission to old Delhi as a suicide bomber and his gradual transformation and change of ideals and beliefs reached the fifty day mark only through the word of mouth publicity.

When even much hyped movies filing to stand up to its expectations at the box office, the success of a small budget patriotic film like 'Black & White' proves the fact that the story and treatment of a film is what matters for the viewers.

Because of the patriotic film's intention of spreading a strong message against the supporters of terrorism, in the first week of its release itself it was granted tax exemption in Delhi followed by Maharashtra.

The success of 'Black & White' has once again proved that the slow and steady ones can also end up as winners.
