As per reports emerging from different parts of the world, nine colleges in China have asked students to go on leave for a week. The students have been encouraged to fall in love so that the falling birth rate can be curbed. "The students have also been asked to maintain a journal of progress and come back with definitive results," said reports.

On March 30, a TMZ report said that the spring break mission is meant not just to hook up but also to get to know each other and maybe even fall in love. China is witnessing "a drastic decline in birth and marriage rates," the report adds.

"The colleges are all vocational schools for jobs in the aviation industry, such as pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, and airport security staff," said Ruchir Sharma, quoting a media report.

The experiment, if it becomes successful, will be scaled up. As per a report, thousands of colleges across China are showing a great deal of interest in the honeymoon-like idea. Students might want to take out protests if they are denied the luxury, but the fear of a clampdown in case of a surge in Covid-19 cases is holding them back.
