Richa Bharti, the Ranchi girl who was recently arrested for an allegedly offensive post against the Muslim community, has been given bail by a Ranchi court after she was jailed for two days. However, the court also added that the bail is conditional. "You have to distribute five copies of Quran within 15 days for you to continue to be out on bail," the court said.

Bharti, who is 19, has refused to obey the court order. "I will not distribute the copies of the Quran. If they can ask me today to do this, they might as well ask me to do Namaz and convert to Islam tomorrow. Have they ever asked a Muslim to distribute copies of the Hanuman Chalisa?" she asked.

Bharti's parents have decided to make an appeal in the High Court. Several social media influencers have collected Rs 7 lakh in less than 24 hours to finance the girl's legal expenses.

Columnists her hailing her as the "hero of free spech".
